I'm porting our 3D SDK code from MSVC to MinGW and stumbled upon the problem
that we use the _bstr_t type as found in MSVC. Any idea how to port this ?

My guess is that you'll have to write your own replacement class or find a
third-party one. That class is not actually part of the Win32 API but if
someone were to contribute a suitably licensed version of it then it could
probably be included in w32api.
