Unfortunately, the MSYS vim and rxvt don't cooperate well with one another.
I actually use gvim as built by http://www.vim.org/ and start it with a script
that looks like:
$ cat `which gvim`
start /opt/vim/vim61/gvim.exe "$@"
This allows the terminal window to be free so that I can use it for something
else. You should be able to do the same with ntEmacs.
