If it makes you feel any better, I think that by and large, the
MSDN examples are hideous. My pet peeve with them is
they don't use even the simplest C++ resource allocation
idiom, and therefore they turn into nested disasters...
I sometimes wonder cynically if the reason that Microsoft
believe that adding memory management to their coding
language was so wonderful, is to help all the people
who don't know any better than to code like the MSDN
