Hello list, I am just getting started with MINGw, and have a few questions. Does someone have some com dll samples? Also, I see a ton of libraries in the lib folder, how do I use these? Is = there a documentation or something giving me some information on what = libraries have what functions? Thanks, Tyler Littlefield. I know that COM is possible with mingw but it's not as smooth as using the Microsoft tools. There's no IDL compiler, for example. And according to the FAQ you should stick to C interfaces. I don't know of any examples of COM programming with mingw, but they're probably out there somewhere. > Also, I see a ton of libraries in the lib folder, how do I use these? > Is there a documentation or something giving me some information on > what libraries have what functions? The thing you have to realize about mingw is that it is just a wrapper around the Windows APIs and C runtime library provided by Microsoft. There is almost no actual library code provided by mingw itself (other than the miscellaenous functions in mingwex.) So all of the documentation that you need is on MSDN. You should really obtain the platform SDK. You can also find the same documents on the MSDN web page, but in my experience it is vastly easier to browse and search using the PSDK rather than on the web. Brian |

You might like to check out some of the windows & COM samples at reliable software's web site -- they have kind of an intro to writing C++ wrappers for windows programming from scratch: http://www.relisoft.com/ Cordially, Perry |
