Hi, I am trying to build some packages using mingwPORT. I downloaded a wget-binary. Now I try to build packages and get the error wget: missing URL Usage: wget [OPTION]... [URL]... Try `wget --help' for more options It seems that the file to be downloaded is not passed on to wget by the script. If I download manually then everything works ( I have already built zlib this way, but need more packages), but it would be so much nicer to use the script to download the package, too. What am I missing? Regards, Andreas |

Every port package has its own version of mingwPORT.sh. -- Earnie |

You can move it to the MinGW bin directory, or somewhere else in your PATH. Regards, Cesar |

For me, that's exactly what it tries to do; (it fails to connect, because I'm behind a proxy server which blocks it, but that's an entirely different issue). > What am I missing? $ mv /bin/wget.exe /mingw/bin -- Regards, Keith. |

You're welcome. > It might be a good idea to note this in the readme of wget. We don't maintain that; we distribute only a precompiled wget.exe, (no scope for adding a README to that), and a verbatim copy of the original GNU source, to satisfy our obligations under GPL. The only reason we provide this at all, is to facilitate users who wish to install mingwPORTs. If anyone would care to volunteer to maintain a more comprehensive binary release, then please see: http://mingw.org/joining_the_team In any case... > I thought that it didn´t matter where in my path I put it. ...this is *already* explained in the README accompanying MSYS, (which you were invited/encouraged to read at the end of the installation process). The restriction is *not* specific to wget: it applies to *all* native win32 executables, and it is removed from MSYS >= 1.0.11; therefore, the warning is more appropriate where it already is, in the MSYS README, rather than in any other package, (such as wget, in this case). -- Regards, Keith. |
