Hi, Since the gdb 6.6 snapshot seems to be working well for folks I figured it was probably about time that I looked into submitting the patches upstream. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this? Large parts of the patchset I put together were basically just forward ported from the 6.3 source supplied by Chris Johns so I'm not sure if he should be the one to present the patches. Any advice appreciated. I also have Insight 6.6 up and running if anyone is interested? Dave |

Hey Dave, > Since the gdb 6.6 snapshot seems to be working well for folks I figured > it was probably about time that I looked into submitting the patches > upstream. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this? I think the best way would be to email the GDB mailing list. There was some mention a while back from the developers on the list that they wished that the MinGW patches would be submitted for inclusion. Cheers! I thought I had read that the reason it never happened was because they were written by someone without a FSF copyright assignment on file and thus couldn't be used by the project until somebody with such an assignment re-wrote them. But I could just be misremembering. Brian |

But I could just be misremembering. Now I'm confused. I saw somewhere that GDB 6.5+ has MinGW support already in the GDB repository. Eric |

Best to follow the the preferred submission protocol for the GCC project; they should be able to tell you how to proceed. > Large parts of the patchset I put together were basically just > forward ported from the 6.3 source supplied by Chris Johns so I'm > not sure if he should be the one to present the patches. AFAIK, whoever submits them will be required to file a copyright assignment with FSF. Maybe Chris was not willing to do that, but you are? If you are going to submit on his behalf, then I guess you'd need his written permission. > I also have Insight 6.6 up and running if anyone is interested? Yes; please post it as a contributed package, via the FRS. (You will see that we already have an earlier version there, so be sure to identify the newer version appropriately). Regards, Keith. |

Of course, I meant the *GDB* project, rather than GCC: http://sourceware.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/src/gdb/CONTRIBUTE?content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup&cvsroot=src Regards, Keith. |
