I have the same problem on one of my machines when I try to run gcc from a windows command console if I am on a drive other then the one on which I installed MinGW. I have also seen others complain of the same error. Nobody has ever offered an explanation so I assume it is a bug in MinGW. |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2293900 By: ranjitmathew You cannot mix and match gcc compiler components from different versions - the MinGW version that you're using has GCC 3.2.3 only. You can simply download and unzip into a fresh folder the GCC 3.3.1 (core,g++,java), binutils, w32api and mingw-runtime packages and run it from there. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=2293964 By: kronkeltm Thank you! I thought I was being smart and only downloaded the exe instead of all the tars. I guess what got me to think it could work is that all this was grouped under "current". ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Also, the problem only manifests itself in a windows command console - not in MSYS. It is tempting to blame user error when you cannot reproduce the problem yourself but that does not appear to be the case here. |

That is the beauty of Open Source. If the problem can't be reproduced then it isn't likely to be resolved until someone else has the problem and decides to fix it. I only responded because you had blamed the problem to MinGW. MinGW doesn't have a problem. It is only a problem with your use of the tool and your expected and desired results. The MinGW team has provided tools to allow you to accomplish your desired result. If you don't like the method by which we've provided you accomplished results, then you have the choice to develop your own or look for other methods.
