Okay, now the cmd prompt window remains open so I see the error messages. There are series of related ones, each beginning with mingw-get: *** ERROR *** http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/<filename>?download:cannot open URL where <filename> is w32api... binutils... libstdc++... and a lot more. As my faulty installation has 60 MB which were largely downloaded, I thought it cannot be an internet connection problem (firewall or something). Can it? (I understand nothing about the LAN configuration here in the company. If connectivity can be the problem I call the guy who does that service for us.) -- Frank Hrebabetzky Tel. This will not work, because there is no defined 'reinstall' operation. It needs to be: mingw-get install --reinstall gcc g++ msys-base -- Regards, Keith. |

If it isn't downloaded, then it can't be installed. start a regular cmd prompt, cd into C:\MinGW\bin, and do: mingw-get reinstall gcc g++ msys-base -- Chuck |

Hi, I tried to actualize my mingw installation on Windows XP, so I uninstalled and deleted the old version, and downloaded and executed mingw-get-inst-20110802 again after a first attempt some days ago, which failed too. I checked C++ and MSys options. I noticed some error messages ("required package file is not available ...) in the command prompt window during installation but they passed too fast to read more details. The installation process terminated normally. Starting the "MingW Shell" from the start menu gets me a "Windows is searching for msys.bat" message. The MinGW installation directory (without spaces in the path) contains the msys subdirectory, but there is indeed no msys.bat anywhere. What might be the problem? How can I get more details about the problem? -- Frank Hrebabetzky Tel. (48) 3239 2258 Photonita Ltda. http://www.photonita.com.br Brazil |
