I added a /local (alias /usr/local) to my MSYS tree.
To discover what that means, in native Win32 format, do
( cd /usr/local && pwd -W )
from your MSYS shell; (this tells me `d:/msys/1.0/local'). Then, run
the GnuWin32 installers, and tell them to use an installation path
equal to your equivalent of my `d:/msys/1.0/local'.
Add `/usr/local/bin' to your PATH, (in MSYS), and you're pretty much
set to go.
This keeps everything much as you are used to in Linux.
