Hello! =20 I=92m using: MSYS-1.0.7-i686-prerelease-1.exe =20 It might be a unapropriate question, but is it normal under Win98SE, that my user=92s home folder is named Win32user?? (c:\msys\1.0\home\Win32user) My username is certanly NOT Win32User :P Under rxvt it displays normally (Lord Nikon@CALCULATOR) =20 Lines causing it in msys.bat file: if "x%USERNAME%" =3D=3D "x" set USERNAME=3DWin32User if "x%HOME%" =3D=3D "x" set HOME=3D/home/%USERNAME% =20 It is too deep magic for me ;) =20 Thank you. I don't have a Win9x to test with and I had to do something with the nonexistent USERNAME variable. :) Send me personally the output of `set' and I see if I can modify that. Earnie. |

The only workaround at the moment is to manually change the Win32User string in the msys.bat file to what you want it to be. I have an idea for version 1.0.8 that'll remove any need to set the HOME variable which is the requirement for needing USERNAME in the first place. That won't be for a while though. Earnie. I just comment out the lines in msys.bat that set USERNAME and HOME, let /etc/profile set HOME, and set HISTFILE in /etc/profile so that the history file is written to the home directory. I may have mentioned that once or twice before :). I might not have mentioned that this works because the line LOGNAME="`id -un`" DOES work in Win98.
