Sorry for the confusion. The CVS snapshot is from 20 March 2005
and I updated my website with this info. (It was available in September,
2004 - that was my previous build.)

AFAIK, we don't have any release candidates. I CCed mingw-dvlpr
so that the "exceptions across boundaries" patch for 4.0 might get
on Danny's or someone's radar.

[MinGW-dvlpr] New MinGW 4.0 Build

Hi People,

I've put out a new MinGW 4.0 gcc/gcj build:

This has integrated SwingWT 0.86.1 and SWT 3116.
There seem to be a ton of new Java classes and goodies,
but I've been out of touch and haven't played with
them.

Issues:

- I haven't done DLL builds for this because I
  don't have a 4.0 port of the "exceptions across
  DLL boundaries patch" that Danny Smith creates.
- some networking and channels stuff seems to be
  busted (cf. NetTest in my examples). I've run
  this with the same sources and the i686-pc-linux-gnu
  native compiler and the test runs okay, so it seems
  to be a Win32 issue. Haven't investigated.
- the SwingWT textboxes don't work in my samples.
  This was also the case with my September build
  and SwingWT 0.84 and doesn't appear to be remedied
  in SwingWT 0.86.1. Robin wrote me off list concerning
  this (in 0.84) and said:

Just to confirm (as your site mentions mostly Java), C/C++ family of 
languages are supported in this gcc4.0 CVS build aren't they..?

That's correct, with the caveat that none of the MinGW-local patches
are present.

Before any one asks:
No, I do not intend to upload a full official mingw gcc-4.0.0 binaries.  Given
my experience with gcc-3.0.0, 3.1.0, 3.2.0, 3.3.0, I would prefer to wait until
at least 4.0.1.  I don't really expect a stable compiler for all languages until
4.1.x.

But I could be convinced otherwise.

I do intend to upload a 3.4.4 binary release.  That should be very stable.

I respect these wishes. From my end, I wasn't asking for these so much
as saying that I won't do DLL builds or vouch for the stability of my build
without your MinGW-local patches. I have minimal time to work on this
and have no idea how stable this build is.

On the other hand, people are welcome to download this build and report
anomalies to the GCC folks as they see fit. I should be releasing another
one within a couple of days which fixes the broken AWT stuff.
