I really hope that one day mingw and mingw-w64 merge, otherwise mingw
could be a dead end. The world changes to 64 bit, there's nothing
stopping that. It would be a pity if all effort done for mingw was lost.
I'm a user of mingw since 1999, and like it very much. Especially
because it is completed with a shell and a large set of maintained (and
well organized) libraries and an installer. That is what I miss in
mingw-w64 and keeps me from moving to mingw-w64. Mingw-w64 only provides
GCC. For instance if you want to add internationalization support to
your application you are on your own with mingw-w64. You can grab the
required libraries perhaps from an other place or build them your self,
but that is a hassle. Not with mingw.
