Some win9x Microsoft executables are built this way. If memory serves, scandisk and xcopy are two examples that run a 16 bit DOS version or a 32 bit windows version depending on what environment they are ran from. They can be console-mode, but they're still Windows executables. If you want something that would run in plain, no-Windows DOS, then compile your program in DJGPP.
