I want to add to what 'fiveight' & Keith wrote: a few days ago i started upgrading my old GCC, MinGW, and so on and I noticed the same problem: size of ld is 0. Now I'm in the process of re-building all my libraries (over 40) from source using the new version of GCC (4.7.2) and I'm facing some linking and runtime issues. I'm sending another email after this advising about those issues.
