Just built your 'app' and tested it on Windows XP SP3 x86 and on Windows Server 2008 x64 and it works perfectly well. I can send you the binary if required.

Thanks for testing the code. Its good to have further confirmation that the source code is well-conforming. I'd like to fix my build environment so that I can generate more complex samples. This was a simple test, that failed, and why it is failing is confusing to me (at the moment for now).

I'm building this on Pentoo 2012, which is based on Gentoo Linux. MinGW was installed through crossdev.

I'll try re-emerging it all, and I'll try to work out what the dependencies are, and which compilers built them.

I'll post my MinGW exe, and some output from debuggers/disassemblers.
