I've downloaded MinGW & MSYS. In an MS Vista Command Prompt window,
I am able to debug & run simple 'C' programs, but not the Unix commands I used
 in my old work environment.

Quoting from Earnie Boyd's MSYS README file: "Starting Msys should just be a
matter of clicking on the MSYS icon on your desktop or Start menu".  Yes, I do
have a desktop MSYS icon, but it only brings up a "msys.bat" file, not a file in which
I can debug programs and run commands like "rm", "cut", "grep" and "uniq".

Using "C:\msys\1.0\etc\fstab.sample", I produced: "C:\msys\1.0\etc\fstab"
with the line "c:/mingw /mingw".  (Was this right?)

Where is the MSYS icon that produces an MSYS window ("RXVT" window?)
suitable for programming?
