I am an undergrad IT student - so forgive me if i'm
wrong on the following.

In an assignment I am using the minGW version supplied
with DEV-C++ V4.01.

We were to use conio.h and the getch() funtion.
Compilation failed and on looking at the conio.h file
getch() is spelled getche(). On changing my source to
use getche() it worked fine.

Hope this helps

    getch() and getche() are different functions. The latter
    echoes the chars read back to console. Both are declared
    in recent mingw conio.h. Both are in import llbs. No
    problem.

    This what it say in mingw conio.h:
    "Pretty please try to use the ANSI standard ones if you
    are writing new code."

    This is what you might want to say to your IT tutor:

    "Pretty please, use ANSI."
