I installed the latest mingw(2.0.0) and msys(1.0.8),
per instructions, onto my system's directories
"i:\mingw" and "i:\msys", respectively. Then I tried
the obligatory "Hello World" thingy only to get an
error that gcc could not be found (i.e. gcc -o hello
hello.c failed for lack of gcc ). The problem appears
to be that "fstab" contained "i:mingw /mingw", which
resulted in "/mingw" not getting into the mount table.
I changed "fstab" to contain "i:\mingw /mingw" and the
problem went away.

i.e. "i:mingw /mingw" -- the mount fails
"i:\mingw /mingw -- the mount works

Regards,

Lowell Anderson

P.S. I'm running Windows 98SE.

This would happen if you incorrectly answered the "Where is
MinGW installed" question with windows style paths. The
instructions for the answer to the question tells you to
answer in the style of c:/mingw. Note the use of / and not
the use of \. This then becomes user error.

    Earnie.
