I use LyX (www.lyx.org) with MiKTeX 2.8 to write documents. I am on
Win XP SP3. Everything worked fine for me until I updated some
packages yesterday, and now texify seems to be broken. I am no TeX or
MiKTeX expert and so have probably not done the most thorough
investigation. Nonetheless, I think I have a path reference problem. I
noticed that the miktex packages were updated yesterday and so this
seems plausible. I do not have Admin privileges in my normal account
on the machine, but can jump into Admin mode when needed (but not for
If I run:
texify -p file.tex
texify: Windows API error 14001: This application has failed to start
application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application
may fix this problem.
texify: Data: C:\Documents and Settings\dhewitt\Application
If however I just run pdflatex file.tex, everything works fine.
I have a copy of pdflatex.exe in both the above printed path and also in
C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.8\miktex\bin
Which is what makes me wonder about the Admin issues with
installation. It seems maybe some MiKTeX elements have become confused
about where things are? Maybe?
Lastly, how does texify.exe relate to texi2dvi.exe? Does texi2dvi.exe
just call texify.exe, or is something else done as well?
