Hello all, I have just updated from MikTex 2.7 to 2.9 (pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.11 (MiKTeX 2.9)). pdflatex and latex work as expected, but texify does not work any longer. Because I was not sure about whether the editor (WinEdt 6) might be the reason I checked on a command prompt: the command texify results as expected with "missing argument", but with a file as an argument I get an error: Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. Alle Rechte vorbehalten. E:\Users\Ralf>texify texify: Missing file argument. E:\Users\Ralf>texify E:\Users\Ralf\Desktop\test\1.tex texify: E:\TeX\MiKTeX29\miktex\bin\ could not be found. The environment variable path is PATH=.;c:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;E:\TeX\MiKTeX29\miktex\bin\;[...];E:\Users\Ralf\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9\miktex/bin\;E:\TeX\texlive\2010\bin\win32 What can I do to make texify work? Regards Ralf |

That sounds strange, because texify must have been found if a `texify' responds with `missing file argument'. The only difference to my path is, that I only have the "main" MiKTeX folder in the path (in your case `E:\TeX\MiKTeX29\miktex/bin;'). Notice that I don't have a trailing backslash and the "separator" between "miktex" and "bin" is a slash instead of a backslash. The AppData path should be found by texify itself searching in all the MiKTeX root directories. Best regards, Stefan |

Hello Stefan, > That sounds strange, because texify must have been found if a `texify' > responds with `missing file argument'. After a long night with de-installing and re-installing as admin, with temporary admin rights and so on it works on parts -- somehow. Generating a DVI using WinEdt's texify command now works but the next errors occurs with PDFtexify: The result (copied it of WinEdt's console): Command Line: texify.exe --pdf --tex-option=--synctex=-1 "E:\Users\Ralf\Desktop\test\1.tex" Startup Folder: E:\Users\Ralf\Desktop\test pdflatex.exe: Invalid command-line option pdflatex.exe: Data: unknown option texify: pdflatex.exe failed for some reason (see log file). PDFTeXify failed to create a pdf file. For possible explanations start the command from the Command Prompt... At the moment I think it would have been better to keep the running 2.7 ... Ralf |

A bug report is already written and so it should be fixed within the next days. Best regards, Stefan |
