On the MinGW list <mingw-users@...> there's been
some discussion of replacing the installer with a (sub-)package
manager that handled dependencies, like apt+Synaptic. I suggested
adapting MiKTeX's mpm, but the MFC-dependency was troubling to some.
How much work would it be for the MinGW folks to adapt the
command-line MiKTeX Tools to their own project structure? Can this be
done without forking the code base? Basically, which is the better
use of the MinGW developers' time: adapting mpm, porting apt, or
