at my work we need to install miktex 2.8 on a vast number of machines. However, during the setup process, we do not know which user will be using which machine. Therefore, we cannot use the --user-install option during the setup process to set the folder in which personal packages are installed. Instead, we want to manually let each user change the install directory one she or he have logged themselves onto the machine. This is necessary because we have internal memory problems if we leave the default setting. The more packages a user installs the more files and memory space is used and our memory space is limited in the "documents and settings" folders.
Therefore my question: is it possible using an initexmf or a mpm-command to let each user change the user-data root directory (the normal user does not have administrative rights)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
