This is starting to become a regular occurrence, it would seem (it being
an update to yap either breaks something, or introduces something I/we
don't want). Most recent update -- now, whenever I texify something
using WinEdt/MikTeX, yap starts with an annoying (and dreadfully
coloured) splash screen, before rendering the .dvi file. If I open yap
standalone, and then open the .dvi file from within yap, no splash
screen. But...if I use texify, or anything else that auto-opens yap to
display the .dvi file, I get the splash screen. *Every time*. This is
WHy does this happen? Here's a clue -- if you fire up yap (2.9.4143 --
most recent build), and then select View | Options | Advanced, then you
see 'Show splash screen at startup'. It is checked by default, but
greyed out so you can't change the setting. I'm guessing there is a file
I could hack to turn it off, but this is a bug (anything that requires a
configuration file edit or registry hack to 'fix' is a bug).
I tried uninstalling the yap binary package, and re-installng. Makes no
difference. The bug is introduced in the latest build.
