Dear MiKTeXers, I have downloaded the various comicssans afm, tfm and vf files from dante, updated updmap.cfg to include comicsans.map, run initexmf -u and initexmf -- mkmaps. When I have a document with \usepackage{comicssans} and run pdfeTeX on it, everything works fine. However, whenever I try to run e-TeX on exactly the same document and then view it in Yap I get the following error message: Making PK font: C:\Programme\MiKTeX\TeXMF\miktex\bin\makepk.exe --verbose rcomic8r 1493 600 magstep(5.0) ljfour Trying to make PK font "rcomic8r" (at 1493 DPI)... Does anyone have an idea, what is going wrong in Yap? Thanks for any help. Rüdiger |

Yap, however, needs pk fonts to display the file. > Making PK font: > C:\Programme\MiKTeX\TeXMF\miktex\bin\makepk.exe --verbose rcomic8r 1493 600 > magstep(5.0) ljfour > Trying to make PK font "rcomic8r" (at 1493 DPI)... > "makemf" --verbose "rcomic8r" > "ttf2pk" -q -t "rcomic8r" > Creating "rcomic8r.pk"... > "gsf2pk" "rcomic8r" "ComicSansMS" "TeXBase1Encoding > ReEncodeFont" "8r.enc" "" "1493" "rcomic8r.pk" > Reading TFM > file "C:\Programme\MiKTeX\TeXMFLocal\fonts\tfm\microsoft\comicsans\rcomic8r.t > fm"... > Error: The font file could not be found. [cut] Looking at comicsans.map I find: rcomic8r ComicSansMS "TeXBase1Encoding ReEncodeFont" <8r.enc <comic.ttf I guess the error message means that ttf2pk can't find comic.ttf. Maybe reading http://www.radamir.com/tex/ttf-tex.htm helps. Searching comp.text.tex is very useful: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ttf+use+latex&meta=group%3Dcomp.text.tex Using debugview or filemon (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml) will tell you what files ttf2pk try to read. Hope some of this helps. Tell us if you were able to make it work. Hans |

Hello, =20 This is more an information e-mail then a question e-mail, but it has a little question inside: =20 I discover the TTF Installer today in the miktex project page: =20 <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D10783> http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D10783 =20 I discover this while reading: <http://www.geocities.com/kijoo2000/index.html> http://www.geocities.com/kijoo2000/index.html =20 =20 =20 I try it with trebuchet, comic, arial and arial narrow. Dear all, This is out of context and I should apologize for that, but probably some= one here knows the the answer... I am using aspell for spell checking my LaTeX files.
