Hello, I just joined the list so please be patient if I violate protocol. I just installed miktex2.7 on a new laptop. This is at least the fourth machine that I have installed miktex on. After installs on previous machines tex file types were registered by windows and appropriate icons appeared for tex files. After the install on the new laptop there are no file types and no icons. This doesn't seem to interfere with compilation. I can still pdftexify from winedt and get a document that includes my citations and references. But it would still be better if I had the tex file types and icons. I am writing to ask if anyone can suggest how I can fix this problem. Thanks. Carl Nelson University of Illinois Urbana Champaign |

It's winedt that register the file types. Look in the configuration wizard of winedt. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Ulrike Fischer mailto:li...@ni... |

It only registers file types is you explicitly ask it to. To set this up, in WinEdt: Options -> Configuration Wizard Filetype associations tab On the right-hand side, use the Modify button: I'd do All Users (Classes Root) for this. Joseph Wright |
