I try to create a network MikTeX installation, where each user has
their own tree on another network drive. We had this working for
several years with MikTeX 2.4, but with MikTeX 2.5 I am running into
I put this installation together by installing miktex locally,
copying it to the LAN and writing an installation script for users
which creates the necessary registry entries and generates the
Our network has roaming profiles, so I would like all user data,
generated or not, on the network. In my test network, the user
profile gets copied from the net to c: on login, and from c: to the
net on logout. The idea is that their installation is identical on
whatever machine they log in.
It so happens that c:\documents and settings\username\local
settings, which is the default location for userconfig/userdata,
is not copied to the network copy of the profile on logout.
Using setupwiz.opt I found the parameters and resulting registry
entries to change this to a better location.
The weird thing is that I can get this to work only when I make
userconfig an expandable type registry string (there is nothing to
expand, though). Otherwise, nothing gets generated, and initexmf and
mo fail with a message 'Unexpected condition'.
Does this make any sense to anybody?
