I have never installed fonts before and want to know more about it. The other
day someone mentioned
http://www.ctan.org/ctan/tex-archive/fonts/psfonts/lw35nfss.zip in this forum.
Can anyone explain a proper way to install the fonts in lw35nfss.zip?

1) The proper way to install anything (including fonts) in MiKTeX is
to use the MiKTeX Package Manager.
doesn't exist. The new location is
3) The files in lw35nfss.zip is a required part of LaTeX and hence
already included in MiKTeX. You don't have to do anything.
I know (from private communication) that you are trying to use a
lousy, outdated class for some journal. I told you how to get it work
and it was not by installing lw35nfss.zip ...
 Read http://research.microsoft.com/~simonpj/icfp02-latex.html
to find an improved version of the class. Sending a compliant to the
journal about this is also in place (and point to the link above).
