Do you mean the difference between LaTeX and MiKTeX? Well, LaTeX is a 
document markup language and a document preparation system. MiKTeX is a 
specific TeX/LaTeX implementation for Windows. Your question was about 
the use of Greek letters when you use the \listoffigures command. 
Therefore, it is about LaTeX in general, not about a specific 
implementation.

[MiKTeX] \listoffigures for caption with Greek letters

Hi folks,

   I have several figures in my paper; I use \listoffigures to list all the titles in the front page of the paper. But whenever there is Greek letters in the tile of the figure, the \listoffigures does not work.
  Could someone help me with that?
