If you are going to post every little error to the web, it's gonna take a long long time to get anywhere. This is really a website for MikTeX related issues, not LaTeX-general stuff. What basic sources have you looked at? There are a number of newbie guides out there. I googled "latex getting started" and got links to a bunch. Do that. Hint: No parentheses in LaTeX. \begin( make no sense. -----Original Message----- From: s....@ao... [mailto:s....@ao...] Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 8:36 AM To: mik...@li... Subject: Re: [MiKTeX] PDF Output I have a problem: I inputed a Latex file with Miktex. However, when I used the Texmaker to obtain a pdf, all I get is 1 page of non sensical equations and nothing else, no writings. I am new to this, but I began my Latex file with \documentclass{article} \begin{document} \begin{titlepage} \begin({abstract}. Any help is appreciated. -----Original Message----- From: alfonsi <Ber...@ma...> To: A place for MiKTeX users to discuss MiKTeX related questions. <mik...@li...> Sent: Sun, Jan 27, 2013 3:14 pm Subject: Re: [MiKTeX] PDF Output Ok. The simplest way to go is to use a LaTeX dedicated editor. For instance, you might install TeXmaker, or TeXstudio (free). Open your file in the editor, and in the 'tools' menu, click on pdflatex (F6 for texmaker). This will launch the pdflatex compiler on your file. You'll the compile log in the bottom window. If your file has no errors, the compilation will end in a pdf file, which you can read with the integrated viewer.
