First of all, don’t get me wrong, and I really don’t mean to be unfriendly, but this is a mailing list for problems particularly with the MiKTeX distribution, not a general TeX/LaTeX questions mailing list. On top of that, it is not a replacement for reading the freely available manuals and introductions to LaTeX. Also, with a one line question like the one you posted you cannot expect much of an answer, because most of the import information is missing: Which LaTeX distribution do you use? Can you give a code example for the code that does not work? Are you including the right packages? Did you install the packages correctly? etc. However, I still want to try and answer your question:

It seems kind of odd to me that you are using the beginpicture command, which is mostly used by PiCTeX and some other packages internally. Maybe you either want to use the picture environment with \begin{picture}…\end{picture}, or some other available plotting package such as pst-plot, which has other commands which allow easy creation of graphs. However, most of the drawing/plotting packages available create postscript images by default, which cannot be displayed in a pdf file unless they are converted to pdf format first. Some packages such as the graphicx package will allow optional parameters for pdflatex so that the images are created correctly, but it really depends on the package you are using.

Without further information it will be difficult to point out the correct solution for your problem.

Hope that helps,

Sascha

Hi, there,

I am trying to use \beginpicture to plot a curve in latex. but pdflatex doesn't recognize it. How to make it work?

Thanks.
