To the MikTex Users: =

I wonder if any kind person on =
the users=20
list could help me. After years without any trouble, the =
following=20
difficulty developed suddenly, some weeks ago.

Having typed a document using =
LATEX, I=20
click on the icon `Latex'. Previously, when I then clicked on =
the icon=20
`Div', the document would appear on the screen, with the LATEX =
commands=20
all translated into mathematical formulae. Now, instead the =
screen turns=20
grey, with a small transparent window in the middle. Zooming in=20
magnifies the window somewhat, and some much enlarged letters =
appear=20
fleetingly, but then disappear. When asking for help, I get =
the=20
response

`Cannot open Tex source file. =
DVI page=20
contains no source links'.

I am then given the=20
instructions:

`Use the -src-specials option =
next time you=20
compile your Tex source file.'

`Tex inserts source specials =
into DVI file,=20
if you specify the command-line switch =20
--src-specials,

e.g. `tex --src-specials=20
mybook'.

It is these instructions that I =
find=20
incomprehensible. Can anyone explain precisely how I fulfill=20
them?

I should mention that when I =
click on `dvi=20
arrow pdf', I produce a pdf-file which I can then read, using =
the=20
command `acroread filename.pdf'

as usual. But now I cannot =
display the Dvi=20
page, as I used to do without any difficulty.

I attach a typical mathematical =
file=20
written in LATEX, in case this will help with diagnosis of my=20
problem.

Very many thanks to anyone who =
can=20
help.
