Thank you. I cannot reproduce this, i.e., at the moment I don't have the means to help you. Sorry!

Hi Christian - thanks for all your work on MiKTeX.I have also been receiving a similar error in all cases:

    MiKTeX Problem Report
Message: parse error - unexpected end of input; expected '}'
    MiKTeX: 2.9
    OS: Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, build 14393
    Invokers: RuntimeBroker
    SystemAdmin: yes
    PowerUser: no
    Root0: C:\Users\dwarren\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9
    Root1: C:\Users\dwarren\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\2.9
    Root2: C:\Local TeX Files
    Root3: C:\ProgramData\MiKTeX\2.9
    Root4: C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9
    UserInstall: C:\Users\dwarren\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9
    UserConfig: C:\Users\dwarren\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9
    UserData: C:\Users\dwarren\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\2.9

    CommonConfig: C:\ProgramData\MiKTeX\2.9
    CommonData: C:\ProgramData\MiKTeX\2.9

I notice that a similar bug has been reported and fixed in the JSON parser found in the Libraries subfolder of the MiKTeX source code. Maybe a simple update of the library is all that's needed? https://github.com/nlohmann/json/issues/306

So sad. I am getting the same error. New user to Lyx. So excited to use it, but cannot download the domain class. Last night, my first try, I got a different error. Last night's error was "The remote package respository is outdated. You have to choose another repository." I was encouraged to try again today after reading the comments of other people who had gotten the same error and said that it had cleared up on its own by waiting a little while. But today's error which reads, "parse error - unexpected end of input - expected "}"" sounds like the end of the road, at least from the comments and responses I see here. I am running under windows on a desktop computer.

Mary, fear not. In my case, downloading miraculously worked again one day later, without having intervened myself in any way. Good luck to you.

Thorsten, you were right. I waited, and the bugs went away. This is such a
great thing about this software. Things get steadily better instead of
getting steadily worse. Thank you again!

I was able to work around this by changing the package repository in the MiKTeX Package Manager (Repository -> Change Package Repository menu option). In my case, switching from fernuni-hagen.de to mirror.ox.ac.uk resolved the issue. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much Daniel, changing package repository solved the issue for me. I also had the fernuni-hagen.de before.
