#3 GIF format support
GIFs are a popular image format, supporting 1-bit transparency and animation. However, this format was under patent until recently, and this has soured many people against it.
Many graphic editors can support this format - should Mike's Sprite Editor become one of them? Note that this will also require layer support to have been completed.
