Using wget is what I have been doing to. However, it would
really help (me, at least :)) if i had a file with all
expected filenames and their md5 sum, to be able to verify
whether or not I really have what is expected.
A small hint on the download page about wget would not hurt
either, IMHO.

I second the motion for FTP. HTTP is bogus.

For the time being, recursive HTTP fetching tools
such as "wget -m" work pretty well.

Try using "wget".
