Hello Antonio Jose

I discovered a few months ago MIDILAYER 0.4.3 and it matches almost perfectly what I was looking for.
I am a keyboard player in a musical group and uses 2 hard keyboards and a VSTHOST (BLOXPANDER) with multiple VSTi (windows version).
MIDILAYER sends the PROGRAM CHANGES to the 2 keyboards and the VSTHOST.
With just a press on the computer keyboard arrow I change the patches of 3 simultaneously. BLOXPANDER also does complex midi routing (a keyboard can control for example
the sounds of the 3 generators simultaneously, spliting, filtering...)
BLOXPANDER knows how to do all this but in SCENE mode, to go from one scene (patch/preset) to another, it does not load the midi configurations and sends the program change that after initializing all plugins. It can take up to 30 seconds for a complex SCENE. it’s too long in concert.
Even if he doesn’t load plugins and only sends program changes to keyboards, it takes several seconds. With MIDILAYER it’s instantaneous !!!
I would like to suggest several improvements.

  • I would like to be able to change the background color of the patches in the "bank" window. Indeed currently in the darkness of a concert, it is very difficult distinguish the "in progress" patch/preset because of the small contrast difference in the background. (I figured out how to change the font :))
  • I would like to be able to change the patches in the "bank" window from a midi controller (2 +/- buttons with midi learn)
  • I would also like to be able to record the tempo value in a patch and have that tempo played in midi (I currently use a light stick that retrieves the information MIDI CLOCK from BLOXPANDER to indicate the tempo to the band’s drummer)

I don’t speak English well and use an automatic translator.

        Sorry for the delay. Sometimes it is not easy to manage all the stuff.
        So, I read carefully your suggestions, in my opinion all the suggestions
        are a plus to the MidiLayer.
        So, I assume that you are using the windows or linux version. I'm asking
        that because I'm thinking about abandoning the development for Mac O.S.
        I'm the only one maintaining the MidiLayer, so you'll still have to wait a
        while until I have some time to do that.

          Hello Antonio Jose,

          Thank you for this positive response.☺☺

          On the picture you can find a screen capture of my computer on concert:
          Midilayer next to my plugin host Bloxpander.

          The midi in/out are empty because the computer is not plugged to my
          keyboards.

          I realise that I forgot to ask you something very important in my last
          message.

          I actualy use an Android tablet with a blutooth page-turner for my
          lyrics and chords.

          It would be marvelous if midilayer could change them when changing à
          preset to another.

          I imagine a specific folder where would be placed the files (jepg, pdf,
          doc...) with each a specific  name or number

          and another foctionnality of ML to open the right file when calling a
          new preset.

          I think about buying a portable tactil screen to plug to the computer
          and dedicating it to the lyrics and chords. (Aliexpress..☺)

          I know it's a big job I thank you in advance for to big time you will
          spend on it.

Hello Antonio Jose

I discovered a few months ago MIDILAYER 0.4.3 and it matches almost
perfectly what I was looking for.
I am a keyboard player in a musical group and uses 2 hard
keyboards and a
VSTHOST (BLOXPANDER) with multiple VSTi (windows version).
MIDILAYER sends the PROGRAM CHANGES to the 2 keyboards and the
VSTHOST.
With just a press on the computer keyboard arrow I change the
patches of 3
simultaneously. BLOXPANDER also does complex midi routing (a
keyboard can
control for example
the sounds of the 3 generators simultaneously, spliting, filtering...)
BLOXPANDER knows how to do all this but in SCENE mode, to go from one
scene (patch/preset) to another, it does not load the midi
configurations
and sends the program change that after initializing all plugins.
It can
take up to 30 seconds for a complex SCENE. it’s too long in concert.
Even if he doesn’t load plugins and only sends program changes to
keyboards, it takes several seconds. With MIDILAYER it’s
instantaneous !!!
I would like to suggest several improvements.

  * I would like to be able to change the background color of the
    patches in the "bank" window. Indeed currently in the darkness
    of a
    concert, it is very difficult distinguish the "in progress"
    patch/preset
    because of the small contrast difference in the background. (I
    figured out
    how to change the font :))
  * I would like to be able to change the patches in the "bank" window
    from a midi controller (2 +/- buttons with midi learn)
  * I would also like to be able to record the tempo value in a patch
    and have that tempo played in midi (I currently use a light
    stick that
    retrieves the information MIDI CLOCK from BLOXPANDER to
    indicate the tempo
    to the band’s drummer)

I don’t speak English well and use an automatic translator.
