Operation is fairly simple. Place the executable in the location where you plan on leaving it, name it whatever you want (misleading names are always a good idea), and run it.

On the first run, the program will automatically install all needed files into a nameless hidden system folder in the same directory as itself, then a red box will appear for password entry. Just enter your desired password and hit ENTER. This will not appear again, so you must remember the password you entered the first time.

After this is complete, the program is ready for normal operation. After the small box appears in the upper left-hand corner of your screen, enter your password and hit ENTER. Any protected files will be made accessible. When the operation is completed, you can open the "µVault" folder that now exists in the same directory as the executable to view your files.

To hide files, place them into the "µVault" folder while the program is running and press the red button within the program's window (or in the top-left corner of the screen when hidden). The program will secure your files and then completely delete the "µVault" folder along with its contents.

To remove files from the archive, simply delete the desired file from the "µVault" folder while it is visible. Only files present in that directory are secured on closing.

Current experimental builds are designed to prevent external modifications to data files that may allow access to secured data. If the program window exits immediately after start, the program has detected unauthorized editing of secured data files and has restricted access.

A toolkit executable has now been included to give some additional functionality and to provide added recovery measures in case of file corruption or unexpected errors that may result from this new feature. It should only be used in order to change the currently existing password or to repair missing or damaged installation files and should be removed as soon as it is no longer needed. It must be placed in the same directory as the main executable and uses the same password. This toolkit is currently only compatible with versions 0.9e and newer.

This toolkit does not allow the user to bypass any security measures currently set. A password is still required and modified data files will cause immediate suspended operation of the toolkit.

Disabled options are for debugging purposes and are only active following proper authentication. For security reasons, these functions will not be made publicly available.

This program is only intended for hiding relatively small files that are frequently accessed. For now, it is recommended that secured data be kept to a maximum of 250 MB. Depending on the amount of data to be hidden, this program could take quite some time to hide/show your files. For larger files that are accessed less frequently, I would suggest using a standard password-protected archive instead of this program.
