also "decreased mutation rate" and "mutator phenotype"
This refers to the rate at which mutations occur when repair systems are mutated. (phage 2011-#34)
We would need a new parent node such as "maintenance of genome integrity" for now. TAMU is still trying to decide whether to separate phenotypes of mismatch repair systems, which mainly repairs damage from DNA replication, from phenotypes of other repair systems, which come into play when DNA is damaged by oxidative radicals or UV. The jury is out, so make the terms and we'll move them later based on what the brains decide.
This issue has been looked at and there are terms dealing with increased and decreased mutation frequency but there are, as of now, no terms dealing with DNA repair except for those dealing with the SOS response.
The following terms have been added to the ontology. I think this ticket can be changed to won't-fix.
[–] OMP:0005048 ! mutation frequency phenotype (1)
[–] OMP:0006071 ! altered mutation frequency (2)
[ ] OMP:0005068 ! increased mutation frequency
[ ] OMP:0005069 ! decreased mutation frequency
