Named loggers available

Microlog is a small logging library for Java ME (J2ME) like Log4j. It has support for logging to console, file, RecordStore, Canvas, Form, Bluetooth, a serial port (Bluetooth, IR, USB), Socket(incl SSL), UDP, Syslog, MMS, SMS, e-mail or to Amazon S3.

Named loggers are finally available in Microlog! It is only available as source code in the code repository, but will be available as a snapshot really soon. The solution is backward compatible; you could still create unnamed loggers if you like.

Microlog Snapshot 200809231956

Hi,

today we released our first snapshot release. The most important change is the check for illegal argument, that of course throws an IllegalArgumentException. Another important change is the performance improvements for the RecordStoreAppender.

Best Regards
Johan

Microlog V0.9.0.2 release

MicroLog is a small logging library for Java ME (J2ME) like Log4j. It has support for logging to console, file, RecordStore, Canvas, Form, Bluetooth, a serial port (Bluetooth, IR, USB), Socket(incl SSL), UDP, Syslog, MMS, SMS, e-mail or to Amazon S3.

Release Notes

Version 0.9.0.1
* Improved the documentation.

Version 0.9.0.0

* Added the PatternFormatter which is equal to the famous PatternLayout found in Log4j.
* Added DatagramAppender which makes it possible to log via a network using Datagram (UDP).
* Added MmsAppender which logs to a buffer which is sent as an MMS or e-mail when triggered by a certain level.
* Added SmsAppender which logs to a buffer which is sent as an SMS when triggered by a certain level.
* Added the SyslogAppender which logs to a syslog daemon ( http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3164.html ).
* Added the S3FileAppender which logs to a file which is sent to your
Amazon S3 account when triggered ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261 ).
* Added the CanvasAppender class that appends to a Canvas.
* Improved javadocs with overview & package documentation.
* Removed the GlobalProperties class, since it was an experiment that never
was successful. The Properties class should be used instead.
Now it should be less confusing to configure MicroLog.
* The ConfigurableFormatter is now possible to configure the same way as the Appenders.
* Removed the AppProperty & NumberedAppProperty classes.
The functionality for AppProperty is now moved to the Properties class.
The functionality for NumberedAppProperty is no longer existing.
* The default recordstore name for RecordStoreAppender is now the name of the
midlet suite (i.e. "MIDlet-Name") plus the suffix "-ml".
* The parsing of the pattern in the PatternFormatter is postponed until necessary.
* The initialization of properties in the Properties class is postponed until necessary.
* Added a lot of example midlets.
* Added the CyclicBuffer class that should be used for all buffered message appenders.
* Added the S3BufferAppender. It works as the S3FileAppender, excepts that the log is stored in a buffer.
* Added the BluetoothSerialAppender that log using a btspp connection.
* Added the SerialAppender that log using a serial port (CommConnection).... read more
