Getting started with MicrobeGPS

There are several ways of installing MicrobeGPS. The easiest way is using the binary distributions of MicrobeGPS. The binary distributions can be run without installing any additional software and are therefore suitable for most users. Take a look at the wikipages below that describe the installation for your operating system.

If you want a more lightweight installation and you have python installed anyways, you can also use our Source distribution. This only installs the MicrobeGPS sources and data files and uses the libraries installed on your system. Note that you must install PyQt4 manually!

As a developer, you might want to direcly check our the MicrobeGPS Git repository. There, you have the possibility to modify the source code, update data files and install the tool manually.
