Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

I have just uploaded release 2003-11-02, which identifies itself as 1.0.3. The web pages have also been updated. I notice the download count has jumped to a massive 4. So someone must be showing an interest! ;-) Since the last release bugfixes have shown a marked decline. I am now finding bugs exclusively in my autocode source rather than the compiler. I am interested in any comments you might have. Drop a line or two to the list, you don't have to be subscribed. ---------------------------------------- ChangeLog.txt ---------------------------------------- MicroAutocode Changelog This file represents events in time-sequence. Fixes before a release point are included in it, those after are not. 2003-10-23 Released assignment to s[...] had illegal follow-on code. There are actually four start-up vectors. 2003-10-24 Released Lexical analyser did not recognise xor. Fixed parsing of conditional jumps 2003-10-25 Released brle does not exist, fix conditionals "bad name" was not handled as an error 2003-11-02 (1.0.3) Released -- Richard Urwin |

Three releases for bugfixes since the initial sourceforge release. I am now using MicroAutocode for a real-life project myself. With my tester's hat on, the compiler is still having teething problems, but nothing that can't get fixed fast. It is still in Alpha state - these things are expected, but it is ready for others to try out. I am interested in any comments you might have.
