I recently tried to narrow to a particular subject using "/ s". The following appeared in MH-E Log:
Errors when executing: mark +pending -add -sequence header 0 0
mark: no messages match specification
and no messages appeared in the folder buffer.
The problem appears to be that the subject line was MIME-encoded. The debugger stack looks like this:

If I edit the message and replace the encoded text with the decoded plaintext, "/ s" works just fine.
