I took the Boost software license 1.0 and decided to deploy mgBoost = under these terms. Its a pretty liberal license, short and precise allowing the end user = basically everything besides violating your copyrights. Its a "copylefted" license - not a philosophical and "viral" one however = as a GPL would be. What is your thoughts regarding a license ? Project is hosted on = sourceforge so basically it needs to be an OSI approved open source = license. Since they accept the Boost Software license however I suppose that they = are much less stress-free than they write and it can be compatible = licenses as well as long as it stays "open source" On magicu-l I already announced that I would like to add a beerware = paragraph and I just googled for it. I found at http://people.freebsd.org/~phk/ /* * = -------------------------------------------------------------------------= --- * "THE BEER-WARE LICENSE" (Revision 42): * <ph...@Fr...> wrote this file. As long as you retain this notice = you * can do whatever you want with this stuff. If we meet some day, and = you think * this stuff is worth it, you can buy me a beer in return Poul-Henning = Kamp * = -------------------------------------------------------------------------= --- */I like it! Should we use it ? |

Hi developers (Frank and Jaco :-)! I fulfilled your requests for developer membership and gave you quite = powerful rights. Its easter time now and we should wait and see if there's more = participation before we start with discussions who is doing what and ... and if particular features / components / ... should go to mgBoost or = better in another, stand-alone project, which we'ld start. For mgBoost there needs to be at least one more project manager to = ensure availibility for request from users and sourceforge staff. The google group for mbBoost I closed (I did not delete it; its just not = possible to join without invitation and see messages without being a = member). I thought its maybe a good place for lengthy discussions which we can be = used instead of private mail if its relevant for people who join later. Let me know what you think about mgBoost, your ideas, what you plan to = contribute, where you think you have your strength, .... or open = discussions it in the forums and/or mailing lists of this project. Thanks for joining this project, happy easter and best regards, Andreas. |
