Hi Vu, I'm documenting a new module that uses R to run some nonparametric statistical tests. The R/Rserve combination that works for me is version 2.3.1 of R with I think the latest Rserve (I don't have the Rserve version number handy). The Rserve that I download doesn't seem to run with the latest R version 2.4.1. Have you had problems matching up R and Rserve versions or is it just a Windows problem? =20 I also think MeV could capture the path to Rserve in MeV's config file and use that to help people launch Rserve without external navigation. =20 The process might work something like this: -Start R dependent algorithm... -Catch lack of Rserve server running... -Check config for path, if no path...Prompt for path to Rserve... -Capture the user entered Rserve location in the config file of MeV. (if Rserve launches...) =3D=3D=3D=3D Next time the user needs Rserve, check config for the path and launch. I think even if we had the path we could still prompt the user so that they would know that we were starting Rserve. I think that rather than messing with an existing class I could have a separate launcher class in mev.r that *could* be invoked from the specific class that is trying to make the connection. This would put the code in the appropriate package but keep it separate from the classes that are really doing the work. The auto-launch could then be utilized if desired by specific implementations but not mandated for every attempted connection.
