I'm trying to run MeV on Ubuntu 12.10 and encountering an error that is far outside of my expertise (log pasted at the end of the email). I tried searching your 'Help' section and found some threads about issues with Java 7, so I downgraded to 6, but that made no difference.
I used to run MeV on earlier versions of Ubuntu, and both the installation and execution were trouble-free. I'd be really grateful for any help!

Exception in thread "main" java.awt.HeadlessException
Just solved the problem, I'm posting the answer in case someone else has the same issue. It was trivial in the end - javaws did not get installed automatically with java, I added it and MeV now runs.
