Hi, anybody knows how to assess robustness of hierarchical clustering results. Thank very much in advance.

    Hi Luis,

I recommend you try out the Support Trees module, ST. It's in the Clustering drop-down menu. This module uses resampling to test the robustness of clusters, as detailed on the Module help page: http://www.tm4.org/mev_manual/ST.html . Good luck!

    Hi,

I am trying MEV to make a clustering based on a distance matrix. I am doing this mostly to see whether I can do bootstrapping on my data.

However, I am not sure whether this works; can I load-file a distance matrix, do a clustering, and bootstrap? according to colleagues, it works for expression data, but my data is of a different kind.

Any help would be welcome .

    Sincerely
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

You can load any file of numeric data into MeV, as long as it matches one of the supported file formats. The calculations MeV does in many of the modules, like HCL or K-means, for instance, require no expression-specific information. I've used them on median housing price data, for instance.
