MG  with filename NONE, it would have been so easy to remove the
    suffix date simply by simply removing the last field (-1) in filename
    The problem is that on the PDS, various files may come with
    "EXTRA" fields...  So NONE and NONESENDER place their field cut
    at field 5 or 6 ... depending if we have a METPX filename or a PDS filename
