Unfortunately I still have an issue with updating the databases. Our new IT head agreed to allow using the FTP connection to NCBI but somehow I can only access it through the ip address ftp://130.14.250.12/ and not throut the domain addreess ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
The update module uses the link to the site. I tried to look in the source of the module to see where I could exchange the link but did not find it.
Any idea on how I could get around it (besides manually updating the database).
Thanks
Danny

Hi Danny,
this is not entirely trivial, as the ncbi address is not only used for
e-tools, but also to download genome sequences via ftp. The URL for the
location of the genome file on the NCBI ftp site is parsed from the
e-utils output and includes "ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov".
"ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov" is not present in the metawatt code anywhere...
I'm not sure I want to start tinkering with that.
Best wishes,
Marc
