Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi! I want to add some functionality (to set a cookie, to be precise) as soon as a person logs in. Where should I write this code: if($USER){ my $packed_cookie = cookie( -NAME => "metadotuser", -VALUE => "$USER->fullname", -EXPIRES => "+2y"); print header(-COOKIE => $packed_cookie); } Thank you for your help! - Subhash S. Second question ... It looks like the functionality provided by Metadot is what my company wants, but we would want to tinker extensively. I was wondering if there was any interest in moving the embedded HTML into template files (Text::Template for example) to facilitate customization and internationalization. Please note that I'm not just bitching - I would like to work on this project, if there is room for another developer, and this would be one of my priorities. I sent email to this effect to in...@me... but I suspect that this is the more appropriate place for it. -- Rich Bowen - rb...@rc... Apache Software Foundation - rb...@ap... |

I'm starting to poke around in the Metadot code, to see if this is what I want to use, and I'm curious about something. It seems that every one of the modules that thinks that it ISA Portal reimplements methods that are implemented in the parent class (is_a, id, and so on) rather than just calling them out of the inherited list of methods. Is there a particular reason for this? $foo->is_a should call is_a out of the parent class of ref($foo) if it does not find it directly in ref($foo). -- Rich Bowen - rb...@rc... ... and another brother out of his mind, and another brother out at New York (not the same, though it might appear so) Somebody's Luggage (Charles Dickens) |
