    Hi,
First of all, thank you for making this awesome software GPL. I wish you all the success! Love it already!

Following the instruction from metadot.net, installation was rather smooth.  Now I am in the configuration mode and that's where I came across a bump. Need your expertise please :)

Basically, we have a corporate LDAP server which almost everybody uses to authenticate their Web site, application and so on. I would like to do just that for my instance of Metadot installation.

So, I enable LDAP with the following

    LDAP Server: ldap.mycompany.com
    BASE DN: o=mycompany.com
    Unique Identifier: uid

....then I login howard_johnson@m... (as our uid is entire email address), I get the following error...

    --------------------------------------

    Error -
An error occured. You do not appear to have a DN. Please contact the server administrator.

Please contact your system administrator if this error persists.

    ---------------------------------------

I am confused. Can you please clarify what I should do at this point? Thank you kindly for your time and advice...

    My environment:

    - Metadot 4x (latest from metadot.net)
    - mySQL 3.23.46
    - Perl 5.6.1
    - All the modules required by metadot including Net::LDAP plus more :)
    - Apache 1.3.22 w/ mod_perl (latest)
    - HP-UX 10.20
    - LDAP server is in the corporate site but with no firewall in between

but they are using secure port, so I tried with ldap.mycomapny.com:636 , but to no avail :(

Any help will be highly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Best Regards

    Imp_

      hi, maybe this may help:

i'm not too technically educated or skilled but doing "beta testing" - sorry folks, i really like metadot and the testing is just to be sure, that it is suitable, i am not doubting the software ... - here is mine experience with the ldap authentification:

one small difference: our dn is dc=domain, dc=topleveldomain (like com)
but i do not think here is the problem...

our uid is username, not e-mail address, there might be also all right

      but:
once you start ldap authentification, you will miss the link with "forgot your password?" that would mail it to you because metadot will try to authenficate you with your ldap stored password (if your account exists ...)

      what happened to me:
i tried to log in using ldap and had the same error. i had mine accout created earlier without ldap. so switching existing account to metadot was not successfull.

logging in with a fresh, newly created account worked perfect. so basically i must say that this feature works!

so i suppose that there might be problems changing the login procedure for existing accounts :((( even when i had the same password for metadot from the days before ldap and in ldap. we had som ldap problems in the past so this may be the reason for mine account making trouble.

if you want to bee informed if/how i solved this (not yet... working on it), let me know

Unfortunately, I couldn't pass the first step that you have had success with.  When I enable LDAP with BASE DN: mydomain.com, uid=email and try to register...registration hang! :(

I never could get it to work while my all other ldap enable application work just fine :O)
