meta-diff is designed to expand the power of source-code control systems to compare different versions of any file type. Since most SCC tools only allow one diff tool to be specified, developers can select meta-diff, which then launches any one of a number of other diff tools based on the file's extension.
One diff tool designed to work with meta-diff is LVDiff, which launches LabVIEW's built-in graphical diff system for LabVIEW virtual instruments (VIs).
In their 2.0 releases, both meta-diff and LVDiff have undergone major revision to work better together, cooperate more reliably with source code control tools, and run on Linux as well as Win32.
